Car has no park????

I got my car running last night and I had it in the park position but the wheels kept spinning. I have one of those fancy b&m ratchet shifters. The car was on jack stands so i put the brakes on and it really didn't slow the engine, i then put it into drive and put the brakes on, it did slow the engine. I really dont know whats going on. My dad said there being some park part in the trany that could be bad but? It is an fmx by the way.

have you made sure the linkage is adjusted correctly? Try shifting it with it disconnected from the shifter and see.

Disconnect the linkage and put the selector lever on the trans in park. See if that fixes it, if it does then its a shifter adjustment problem. If not its in the trans itself.
