Sounds like you have your own answer.
My advice would be hang onto your car, but you gotta do what you think is best.
Looks like about $3500 worth of upgrades you're planning. What kind of reliability would that buy for your 95?
I saw your car for sale on The Corral as well, and my jaw dropped. I would love to buy it if I can sell my '68.
So I'm a little biased when I say: Please sell!
Dude, you know when "it's time" to sell your car. I am selling mine, too. It's "just" a 94 GT. (automatic, at that) I haven't really lost interest in it. I'd just like to try something different. Nothing wrong with that. To move up to a Bullitt, is a good move. Will you miss your 95? Absolutely! Will you get over it? Absolutely! If it REALLY means a lot to you, you'll find a way to get another one. That's where I am. I had a 1985 Merkur XR4ti that I absolutely LOVED. I am going back to those, when my GT sells. It turns out that it meant that much to me.
Like others have said here, you are going to have a heck of a time not taking a beating on it, pricewise. Hold out for the guy that is willing to pay what you need to get for it.
My vote is to GO FOR IT on the Bullitt, you probably wont regret it.
Maybe im missing something but i just looked at your ad on corral...
What is really 120k miles on the car? You keep saying how old the car is, but what part of it is old? Once you replace the engine, trans, and rear....thats a brand new driveline. NEWER than that of the bullit. You've replaced a lot of the small nitty gritty already...i could see if the car was 90% stock since 94 or 95 but its not!
And that ad reminds me of the carfax commercials...since you guys did the repair, no one will ever know. $7,000 for a mint GT is one thing...but $7,000 for a GT after a couple wrecks is another (regardless of t he quality of repair)
Hope you make the right decision for yourself bro, my all time favorite car is a 98-02 black WS6.....but i wont trade my mustang for it. Too much blood sweat and tears are in this thing.
GOOD LUCK !
Big ditto. I keep saying this but hes ignoring the people who make legit comments about why not to sell it.
Well honestly, if this was the 96-98 board, i would still have the same opinion.
For me its not a car specific thing, my factors would be:
1.) how your car looks (GREAT)
2.) What you have put into your car
3.) A bullit isnt special (atleast to me...its a GT with badges)
So any car that somone puts a lot of money, blood, sweat and tears into i wouldnt tell them to get rid of it. Arent you done with school in a year? Why not hold out, keep your current car, then buy a car when u get a job?
I take that back, if they were offering a DOHC 99+...or even a 96-98 maybe....i would be more confused on what i would do if i were u. I drool when i hear a good exhaust on a mach 1.
Why not finish school, keep your car, then get a 99+ DOHC mustang?
Also, blue book is good to get an idea, but at 14,000miles...that car is worth more than $9k. (and to think you have your car listed at $7k....)
3.) A bullit isnt special (atleast to me...its a GT with badges)
7k is alot to ask for a car that's been wrecked what, 2 or 3 times now? Don't get me wrong man, I absolutely love your car, but I think maybe 4k or 5k would be a more reasonable price.
That's the main thing that gets me. Just seems like there's alot of impulse with this whole idea. I can totally see where getting a newer low mile car is intriguing, I just think regrets would likely follow. After all, a Bullitt really isnt that special. Its no '03 Cobra or something.
Well if the car means so much to you, why sell it? Pardon the shadetree psychology job, but it almost seems like you priced it too high to keep it from selling? I dunno.
