After talking to Ford this morning and being told that the car is in transit and will be at the dealer sometime between 2-9 September, I get a call from my salesman at 4:30 this afternoon telling me that the car is here. I went out and looked at it and it is gorgeous. I was a little disappointed that the "dark charcoal" interior isn't darker (I thought it would be closer to black) but after owning two different Mustang Converts (a 95 and a 96) with black interiors, I think it will be a nice change. The more I looked at the exterior in its redfire clearcoat, the more it looked like the vintage burgundy 66 Mustang that I learned how to drive in. My 76 year-old Dad is gonna absolutely flip when he sees this car, as he bought himself the 66 in 68, when he got back from spending a year in Vietnam flying helicopters out of Danang.
I got a quick up the road and back test drive in the car. It's bigger, wider, softer and smoother than the 96 Cobra & I think I'm really going to enjoy it. I did notice what seemed to be a little bit of throttle lag when I mashed the gas in second gear. Not sure what to make of that...
Took some pictures with my camera phone but cant seem to send them to my e-mail account

Ford calls this feature Torque Managment, and yes! it comes standard (and @ no extra charge!) :bs:


After some prodding and complaining Ford has admitted that this was done to tame these cars for the secretaries, coots and geezers out there who wouldn't appreciate the tires smoking from a dead stop or the slipping and sliding on a wet day.

So, let me make sure I understand this: I haven't even taken delivery of this car and I'm already going to need to shop for an aftermarket tune? Man, that's just wrong...

Yep, I feel the same way ....

My big complaint is that someone hasn't offered a simpler/slicker/cheaper solution than a full blown Re-tune
(@ $399.99 a pop) :bs:

Why cant someone just hack that code change and market THAT fix alone?? :bang:

If one is going to spend $399 for a tune, might as well go another $150 and get a cold air kit...

Had the same problem here, complained to my salesman. The dealership I bought my car from is an SVT dealer. They ask me to wait until I had 1K miles on the car then they did a Dyno tune. I got my car back with 45 more miles on the OD and a full tank of gas. When I drove it for the first time after the tune it was like a different car.
I cant get a straight answer from anyone at the dealership as to why they wanted me to drive my car for 1000 miles then bring it in for a service. I have never had to do this for a car before, but they acted like it was normal.

I can only hope I am as lucky and mine shows up 1 week early than what they are telling me. I ordered July 24th and have been told Sept 9-16th. With exception of the CS package we have very similar cars BUT you are closer to the factory than I am.:( Just have to keep my fingers crossed for a call like you got.

Both those pictures when you can. :nice:

Beats me. Almos sounds one of those situations where the computer needed to learn your driving style or something. I don't think my dealer is an SVT Dealer but I will check...
