Hey everyone, My buddy needs help with his '94gt. It runs like its about to sputter out of gas all through the rpm band. Although it does get a little better at higher rpm's. The only mods on it are a c&l, 24# injectors, 255lph fuel pump, edelbrock performer rpm manifold, bbk headers, o/r h, and flowmasters. We just put the injectors on a few weeks ago but the problem is still there. The mass air is calibrated to the new injectors too so I know that's not the problem. Someone said that the valves could be burnt. I honestly have no idea what that means. The problem has been there for almost a year now and he's just about to get rid of his car because nobody can tell him what it is. Could the distributor be off by a few teeth? Would that make this happen? It idles at about 600rpm's. I've looked at the entire fuel system and it checks out. I don't think that this is a gas problem but then again I am not Einstein either. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Burnt valves...doubt it...

First, try switching back to the stock MAF. Even though it's not calibrated for the right size injectors. Cruising around with it on there for a short period of time won't hurt anything. Some have problems with their C&L MAFs that cause the problems that you are explaining.

When is the last time the car's had new wires, plugs, distributor cap and rotor, and coil put in it? I'd look there next.

What do the current plugs look like? Lean, rich, what?

The MAF is less than a month old. So that can't be the problem. The car has been like this for almost a year. The plugs, wires, cap and rotor havent been changed for about a year too. So I guess it's time for a tune up anyway. Also, the plugs made it look like it was running on the lean side. The car has the stock coil on it still.

I'm not speaking of the MAF being "old". Some people have problems with C&L meters causing the EEC's to go into fits and to not correctly because of the design of the meter.

I'd tune the car up and set the timing back to 10* BTDC if it's not already. Then come back with the results.
