68 w/ an I6, was on highway today and car starts a (suttle) shutter and starts slowing, slid it into nuetral and was still doing it. Got worse as I tried to pick up speed again.
Nursed it home on a side road but get up around 25-30 and it starts again.

Axle has about 1" of play when turning the driveshaft in neutral, U-joints checked out OK, could it be the axle going bad?, trans problem?

Third vehicle in two weeks now to take a s**t:notnice:

Yes, my brother took a ride w/ me in it yesterday and he said he never heard anything like that before, about 25 mph the car starts to shudder and vibrate like somethings way out of balance, not sure if its comming from trans though or rear axle.
Revved the engine in neutral and ruled that out as was no different. In neutral it continues till it slows down.

Tomorrow plan on putting blocks under axle, and in gear look to see what might be going on when wheels are spinning.

Think it may be rear axle, jacked it up, put in drive and can hear something loose metal against metal like a "ding, ding ding" periodically. Hard to tell where noise is originating from though because it goes right thru the drive shaft like an echo.

Car's for sale now if anyone wants a Nevada basically rust free car for 5K w/90% new parts, would make a good V-8 conversion.
Will post and add later in the classifieds here, car is in Binghamton, N.Y.
