Car starts without the chip, but with chip in, antitheft comes on and won't start

So the car won't start with the Superchips chip that came with the car, but if we take the chip out the car starts. The Chip turns on the Anti theft light which is the reason why the car won't start. Is there a difference in the computers from 2001-2002. The kit came off of a 2002 GT. What are my options from here. Thanks

I had the same problem with mine and it turned out I needed to scratch off more of the protective coating on the board. Use a scotch pad and remove the coating. Hope that works!

We tried using everything. I used a 800 grit sand paper to take off that silicon gel. We then tested the ecu to make sure that the metal was conducting electricity. Didn't work. What should the ECU look like when you are done cleaning it? Do you have a picture I could look at? We think that the chip has gone bad. I'm going to get a SCT Tune for the car now. Do you think that the SCT Dealer will encounter the same issues with a new chip?

I had to use a flashlight to see but I noticed that I could see that the little metal strips would lose there brightness and kinda change color from chrome like to kinda a copper color. Hope this makes sense!

I am confused here. You say the car won't start with the chip that came with the car, then you say it is from a kit that came off another car. Which is it?

Chips are computer specific. If this is a chip that came from a car with a different computer code, then you will have to have it reburned in most likelyhood.

SCT can be flashed if you don't want to bother with a chip.

See if there is a kill switch button. I had the same problem and it turned out that i just needed to hold this button in.

No offense, but did you read his post? Car won't start with the chip in, but will when it is removed. What would a kill switch have to do with that?

It is a chip from another computer, and it will not work . . . different codes.

the chips are flashed for specific computers... you WILL have to get it reflashed for your computer... otherwise you'll run into probs like that... k?

I had the same problem when I installed my Kenne Bell chip. You have to get the terminals down to a copper color. I had to do a lot of sanding then I used some alcohol to clean them off ( and some to make me feel better ). Hope this helps. And make sure that the Super chip is even the right chip to begin with. You know, what he said.
