car wont start after H/C/I

ok i feel like an idiot, the dist was 180 out, i held my finger over the #1 spark plug hole till i felt the air come out then checked the dist rotor and sure enough it was 180 off

turned it around and she started right up... sounds SOOOOO NASTY with the cam!!! but now i have a different problem that ill make a new thread for

I am glad that you found out the problem.

But turning the motor by hand until it hits the 10* mark will not guarantee it's at 10* BTDC, it can still be 180* off.

The only way to ensure that you are at 10* BTDC is with the valve covers off, watching the lifters on the #1 cylinder. Compression stroke means both lifters will be down. Exhaust compression stroke means exhaust valve will be open.
