So this is the second time this has happened . The car wouldn't start earlier at the Shell pump. I didn't have a wrench with me but lucky my friend downtown(small town, 17k pop) did. Anyways i had to reset the computer to enable my car i guess to make a spark, because i got great fuel pressure and i was at the pump so it has fresh 91oct gas in it. Last time this happened i had a bad battery. So i got it checked when it finally got started and took it uptown to get it tested, battery was good, so i cleaned the terminals which wasn't really bad at all. What keeps causing this to happen? It is a real PITA in cold weather. Any help would be welcome, other than carry 8mm wrench in the car(just threw one in the glove box).

Obviously its an electrical problem but what it is I don't know. I would take it to Ford and have them take a look at it.

I would just call and ask them. Tell them the problem and just ask if they have an idea on $$. There might be a TSB on this problem too.

Did you hear the fuel pump at all before you disconnected the battery ? What is the theft light doing when you try to start it. It should flash if there is a PATS problem.

=] Shoot, just run 87 octane unless you have money to waste. I know some people say it makes there car run better. But does it really? Anyways, unless you have some mods that need 87+ than i dunno. I put 93 octane in my car on accident and didnt notice anything better on my car... just felt the burn in my pocket because i paid 3.49 a gallon when i shouldve paid 3.15 a gallon lol.

Yep, im no help here lol.

I just run 91 oct, seems like i get better gas mileage, its 3.15 a gal, 89 is 3.00 i think. I remember putting 87 in one time and it was pinging, so i never put anything lower than 89 in my cars. Maybe im just wierd...i dunno. Im a stickler with things like that, my interior always has to be clean, i freak out when there is a piece of trash on the floor.

OK so let me get this right.. you (Twista) paid $3.49X 14gallons =$48.86 right>? now if you get 87octane like you said you always do... (and yes my car runs better with better gas milage on 93octane)then for 87 you pay 3.15X 14gallons= $44.10

So you spend another 4 bucks on gas and that hurts your wallet?

So iam guessing you replaced your battery? Also it takes some time for you CEL to come on whenever you disconect the battery. So maybe give it sometime and see if one pops up and then check it.. just my .02

That crazy im not car smart at all, but should it ping on the fuel the motor is designed to run on? DUnno, maybe you have a tune that requires >87.

Yep, when you have a ****ty job+ a girlfriend i need every dollar lol. I would rather have more gas in my tank and i never fill it FULL up so i need all the gas i can get for my dollar. I guess when you have the money to spend it doesn't matter, but that $4 could buy me dinner LOL.
