carb or EFI stang?

whats up guys/gals, im in the market for another stang, i had an 89 LX and i had to sell it about 6 months ago cause i really needed a truck and it was the biggest mistake. i miss that car more than anything. anyway, i also was debating buying a pre 86, the older body style that is carbd. the car will be daily transportation to work, not an all out race car or anything, i like to drive them all the time. just a mild mod motor. i really liked the EFI one i had, but it had its pain in the azz, cant figure out whats wrong sensor crap. but i dont know if a carbd car is economical or not. if anyone has owned a carbed stang and drove it everday or whatnot let me know what you think or if you have a suggestion that would be great too. i dont want to get really ****ty mileage either, with my 89 i was still getting about 20mpg on highway and it was a 5spd, and whatever i get will be a 5 speed also. thanks, any help is appreciated.

EFI is better for drivability and gas milege. For a D/D I think it is definatly the way to go. If you were going all out for race or a street/strip, then carbed.

It's a matter of personal preference. I believe 85 was the last year for the carbed GT. 86-88 had speed density efi; 88 had mass air efi in CA; 89-on they were all mass air.

My opinion is that for drivability and efficiency, you can't beat a well maintained efi car. Occasionally someone will post about really being careful with their carb tuning and coming up with a really efficient combo, but it's the exception not the rule.

Ultimately, your decision. One thing - if you have to worry about emissions, be careful about buying something that's been converted from efi to carb. You'll likely not get it through emissions.
