I met a guy here at the local track that was from up North that is in the carbon fiber industry. He is certain that he could make some 3" cowl hoods for 67 mustangs. He would need at least 5 customers before it would be worth his time. We also talked about building these so they would extend back a little further toward the windshield covering some of the cowl vent. Similar to the 69 camaro.Anyway I will be getting alot more details later, but for now I thought I would ask around.

an extended cowl would look nice on a 67-68.

We must be the only 2. I just hate to spend a bunch of extra time fitting a glass hood. Who has had good luck with their cowl hood...... this week? It seems opinions change quite frequently.

id love a carbon fiber for my 64 1/2...

Im really surprised the restomod companies are not doing carbon fiber hoods

i think it was year one that has carbon fiber hoods for your mustang....? im not a hundred precent sure but pretty sure

Year one has the carbon fiber thunder bolt hood. I think it looks bitchin. Thats the only hood I like.

with all the fitment problems of the glass hoods out there and all the factory tolerance variations could you imagine the "my cf hood dont fit right, now what" threads...I agree the year one tbolt hood looks killer, ive never liked the cowl, looks too chebby.

3"cowl hood

CF is very difficult to get right now. I do not know what kind of connections he has, but know he is legit.
I realize everyone has their own taste on what looks good to them. For this, I did not want this post to turn into hood bashing. All I am offering is possibly a way to get a somewhat difficult product on your car with a much better fit than what I have seen in the past. I know everyone does not like a 3" cowl hood. Some do not even like CF for that matter. But for some of us, more hood clearance is a must, and there really aren't that many options out there.
I have read many posts on glass hoods and honesly am leary on all of them. Because with my luck I would probably be forced to spend another $300-$400 on a body man to get it fitting right.

As nice as a car this is, all I could see when I took the photo was the hood.
Bad A** of a car no doubt and nice people who own it. But still do not see the Chebby similarities....sorry.

no offense intended, ppls tastes differ, thats what is so great about the hobby, all the variations. i have seen some imports with cf hoods that didnt fit right at all and like you say (i think, cant dl pic @ work) a bad hood will kill the looks of an otherwise nice car. yr one cf required softer springs & hood prop for use with hinges or 4 pins if I remember right. there price doesnt seem out of line when compared to glass hood/bodywork/paint. I did run a cervini on a fox and it fit great, scuff and paint, so there is good quality out there.
