Hello, this is my first time posting on these forums. I have a 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe with a 289 and I am going to install an Edelbrock Power Package Top-End Kit (Part #2027) onto my 289 C-Code engine and I currently have a Holley 4010 4V Carburetor and a Holley Intake but have read bad things about the carburetor online so I will be replacing it and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a 289 with this Top-End kit and what carburetor would work well with it. Thank you in advance.

Are you going with cam and heads? Is there a problem with the way the carb is performing now? Are you doing any other work to the bottom end? New pistons, over bore, any thing like that?

there is a lot more to a carb than cfm or that it runs fine. i can assure you that if you put an AED 650 HO on it the thing will pick up over any out of the box holley or edlebrock/carter carb. seen it happen multiple times with AED carbs.

we had a cleveland headed motor that went 11.40s with a holley 650 HP, same with an 830 annular, wouldnt run with a 750 HP, and with the back barrels of the 830 unhooked it went its best of 11.20s. we returned the POS 750 HP for an AED 750 HO and it went 10.80s out of the box.

I have a 500 cfm Edelbrock with my Edel heads and mild cam on the 302. Excellent response and power. Very happy.
