You know guys....... I'm starting to look at the Trutrac Detroits. I'm not sure if I am ready to step up to the plate with a spool. Whatever I am buying, I am buying it this weekend, standby
As posted above....if it's a dedicated strip car, get the spool....(stronger than the detroit and cheaper too) You can even drive a little on the street with a spool....(i wouldn't do it with the big n littles though)
If it sees regular street driving, get the trutrac.
After much deliberating. I decided to go with the truetrac. I love driving my car on the street and I'd hate to be caught out in a rainstorm or whatever and be stuck or wreck out. Not worth it. We'll see how this truetrac holds up!
**EDIT**
I've got a detroit locker in my cougar and it's great. My brother's got a spool in his car and it's a bitsh to turn that thing. It fights you and tries to straighten the steering wheel when you turn.

Good Luck. BTW, where were you running went the "mortar" went off? Just wondering if you were at Reynolds last weekend. I was going to go but got inexplicably sidetracked.

I know of a Det that has over 700 passes at over 600hp. Durability is not an issue with THAT locker. hey man, flip the cash for something you will probably never have to replace on your level of race car. JMO
Truetrac isn't quite as strong but I hear they are holding up well. We'll see.

We will see how good they are at high rpm launches.... I can;t wait. Even though the 3.55 will slow me down for the time being. it will be interesting to find out the 1/4 mile times I get and the mpg I get to the track!!!!
