I'm a pretty competant mechanic but am having a pretty perplexing issue. I recently purchased a new cat h-pipe. When i went to install it came up short of reaching my old catback unless i really cranked it down but then the muffllers would be pulled to far foward. I decided that it was probbaly a lack of adjustability in the welded flow tubes. The catback was pretty tired so i cut it off and purchased a new one. The new catback had the same issue. It seems like the new h-pipe is about 1-2 inches short. Everything with the h-pipe is installed right... many times over and over. I think its the cats since 2 systems seem to not line up right. The cat company said its not possible and maybe i have a problem elsewhere Motor mount etc.... anyone have any input? I am currently getting measurements to measure the Cats for correct length. I will withhold brand names until i find the solution so i dont bash.. thanks

The manufacturer of the new h pipe isn't going to admit they may have sold a product that is somehow defective. Did you purchase a name brand (BBK, Mac, etc) catted H, or was it an off brand? The big name companies will probably be more willing to stand behind their products, but no two cars are alike. If you switched from one aftermarket piece to another, the previous part may have been a different length. There's probably more variables than I'm thinking of at the moment, but I've also been awake for way too many hours...
