Ive been wondering what the difference in loudness is between installing the full cat-back or just the mufflers (using the American Thunder catback vs just the Delta mufflers on a 4.6 as an example) big difference or no?

I don't know if it would sound much different but it would flow a little better since the stock ones are crimped and not mandrel bent?

Whether that teeny air flow increase would really affect sound is a good question though...

sound would prolly be a little more muffled/quiter with a stock system even more so if they are using crimp bends

while most catbacks (least good ones) use a mandrel bend that allows for the gas to go out with more velocity in a less turbulant form

and turbulance can help quit the sound in an exhuast system

yes the catbacks are louder than the junky stock. the head tubes are crimped on the stock pipes. take a look at them yourself, they're trash, not to mention they weigh a lot. the 2.5 inch pipes makes a big difference, and in my opinion is well worth the $

just make sure you get the stainless catbacks from flowmaster (if they offer stainless)... the stock system is stainless, and you dont want to "downgrade" on any aspect, especially if you're paying for it and installing it yourself.

:OT: this is off a bit, but still pertains a bit i think...... what kind of power difference is there from only mufflers, to a full cat-back?????????
i'm getting ready to get my full cat-back, but i have always been curious of how much of a power difference there was between the 2
