New motor is about to be in and I can afford the exhaust. Its a 99 GT with cleaned up heads, accufab TB and plenum, mass air, and in-fender cold air.

I REALLY dont want the car to sound like a 4x4, but it still needs to have the unmistakable mustang roar. Ive been leaning towards SLP and Bassani. Not really concerned with emmisions.

Power differences?.....sound?

Pls advise

No cats. It sounds a lot meaner. I'd go with the LMII's or Bassani with O/R X. Power differences should be negligible.

Bassani Catback w/ OR X-Pipe is a beautiful sound. Sadly after fixing the massive exhaust leak on the passenger side manifold, the driver's side now has a leak

cats or no cats

Depends on where you live, if you have to pass emissions, i would reccomend cats, its a pain in the ass to swap the pipe. I failed the visual with no cats one time, and got screamed at by the Inspection guy how was going to get me fined for 10,000 dollars. that was the last time i tried that. Positives are you can hear my car coming a mile away and it gets everyones attention, even non car enthusiasts. When i drive through town people run for cover, and never jump in front of me at crosswalks. I one time hit the gas in traffic and scared a little kid, and he fell off the sidewalk. The top end gains with no cats and the x-pipe are awsome, it really opens up the top. And i love the smell you get from a non catted car. Nothing like the smell of fumes in the morning.

The downsides are, it wakes my girlfriends parents up when I used to drop her off way past curefew. MY dad could hear me get on the gas 5 minutes from my house, and used to bitch at me for speeding. And ultimately it almost got me a ticket when i gas it about 3/4 throttle leaving, a wendys. The cop guestimated that i was going 53 in 30, from down the street, at (no lie) a honey dew doughnuts. Also everything in the world tries to race you, including every import ever made, wether its 1969 or 1996.

No kidding? That's the reason I got rid of my Bassani O/R X, I couldn't stand smelling like exhaust when I got to work in the morning. Maybe it was worse with my side exhaust.....

I like the sound of the Prochamber and a Flowmaster catback. It's loud and sounds really agressive without losing the the Mustang sound. That was really important to me, I wanted good flow and for it to be louder than your average Mustang but without losing the Mustang sound and sounding like a 4X4 or camaro.

I've got this setup so if you would like to hear it just let me know and I'll forward you a link.

I got the Magnaflow O/R X and Catback and I love it. It just has an awsome, loud sund. Alos not alot of people have a complete Magnaflow exhaust system so youll sound unique.

I like it, reminds me of an old pre emissions muscle car, I do get tired of it in the traffic though.

No cats.. unless you have bad acid reflux like me, which is triggered for some strange reason by the fumes.

Thanx for all the responses. There are no emissions here in Indiana but I think I have decided to go with the cats. Just like the sound better. More motor and less pipe. Found a catted bassani x for $350. Probably gonna go with 2 chamber flowmasters and turndowns instead of pipes. Keep it clean and stealthy looking.

Thanks Again

You guys don't have emissions?! **** i need to move, why the hell wouln't you go long tubes and an off-road pipe. not only will it sound bad ass you will get some serious power.

IF Long tubes where anywhere near legal in my state, i would have em. Well worth the investment, I can't think of a single mod that with that kind of money you would make as much power.

If you really want go with the long tubes and a catted pipe its worth it for the power, that is unless you don't like horsepower. Which if you have any nuts i find hard to believe.
