Causes of brake lights coming on...

My brake light comes on occasionally as I start driving fast, occasionally when pressing in the clutch, and occasionally when braking hard.

Brakes look fine, fluid levels are good. Any ideas what the problem is?

master cylinder? maybe. Mine does that too.

I know that my old Taurs had a slow leak in the master cylinder, but it was a constant with that car. This one sort of comes on and off.

It's low on brake fluid. I've seen several Mustangs do that. When accelerating or braking hard, the fluid is sloshing around and the sensor is reading that it's low on fluid. Hence the light.

Mine did that too last year, had a bad wheel brake caliper(stuck piston). You should check it out.
