CCRM...when can you eliminate it?

Ok big big question. When can you eliminate the CCRM wire harness?

Preface: We are going to a full standalone system on the car, Big Stuff 3, and want to get rid of as much wiring as possible. This is a track only car, never sees the street. The ABS is out, manual brakes, no A/C, no alternator....I really mean track only. I have my PMS setup and UEGO 2000 for sale (shameless plug) available after Octobert 19th.

With the Big Stuff 3 we will be going with a standard MSD distributor and eliminating the TFI module as well.

I haven't pulled out my Haynes book (commonly referred to as my bible) to see what all wires go to the CCRM.

What all is in the CCRM? What does it control? Can I remove it all together?

First off I want this to be an informative discussion on the CCRM...not why I am going to the BS3 or what not. I will physically explore the CCRM harness this fall after FFW Finals but I wanted to start getting some input now.

Please keep this one on topic b/c I honestly do not know the answer.

I bet you could eliminate it entirely, since you're also eliminating so many other systems. The CCRM contains the fuel pump relay, so you'd need to rewire that system, but the others that it contains are the fan controls (you'll probably run a manual fan/cooling system), air conditioning WOT relay, and I believe the ECM power relay, which would probably be a simple rewire, too.

just went to yahoo and searched for ccrrm wiring diagram and came up with these.

Went to the mustangtech.org website. they have more information on that website so I would go there for more information.
I think that thanks should go out to hissin50 for the website or at least it seems like it.

Thanks it seems like it can come out. Won't have an EEC, the standalone system will have 12v directly from the battery. I have my fans on a manual switch, no A/C. The fuel pump part I need to take a look at though.

The Wiki is the handiwork of the invaluable Wes (Stanger007), not me. I just made a couple of very small contributions, including a CCRM note or two.

I agree with the above. You'll be fine without the CCRM. As noted, you'll want your FP relay. If you want, use the factory (CCRM) inputs to control one simple SPST relay (you can lenghten the wires and relocate them where ever you want). That's the easiest solution anyhow.

I dont know how the aftermarket EEC's work but you might want to do the same thing with the EEC relay in the CCRM. That way all of your sensors and systems receiving VPWR will still do so, and at the same time as they did before.

The CCRM is just a 5 relay housing, with an added component for the WOT relay.
