Those weights push the clutch against the flywheel at higher rpm's. The problem is with really high rpm, even though you are fully to the floor the weights are forcing the clutch enough top keep the traany partially loaded and making shifting quite difficult.
As far as a 351w spinning that high,LOL not lots of money just lightweight parts and a solid roller cam with the induction to support those rpm's.
And yes the tach was off quite a bit at those rpm's Good thing for the shift light that was set at 7200.
I never complained about the holding capacity. I never had slippage problems.
Just release problems at high rpm. I did finally explode the disc on a launch though, 7000rpm sidestep on 29inch slicks at the track was too much, also ended up being too much for a ram 900 series with a sintered iron disc. That one started to sheer clear off the flywheel. Next step would have been a multidisc setup.
