Those weights push the clutch against the flywheel at higher rpm's. The problem is with really high rpm, even though you are fully to the floor the weights are forcing the clutch enough top keep the traany partially loaded and making shifting quite difficult.

As far as a 351w spinning that high,LOL not lots of money just lightweight parts and a solid roller cam with the induction to support those rpm's.
And yes the tach was off quite a bit at those rpm's Good thing for the shift light that was set at 7200.

I never complained about the holding capacity. I never had slippage problems.
Just release problems at high rpm. I did finally explode the disc on a launch though, 7000rpm sidestep on 29inch slicks at the track was too much, also ended up being too much for a ram 900 series with a sintered iron disc. That one started to sheer clear off the flywheel. Next step would have been a multidisc setup.

Correct ECU...Centerforce Dual Friction Press Plate's are Orange and so are the II series. The 1 Series Press. Plate is gold. Correct me if I'm wrong but Spec and Ram clutches are blue/purple I believe.
Guess you will have to take the, "Centerforce Dual Friction," out of your sig!

Lets get a few things straight here, first of all,
I have had TWO separate d/f clutches and both did the exact same thing. You can call foul and say I didnt break them in right, that the cable isnt adjusted right, disc was misaligned, etc. Truth is, I my last d/f was adjusted ALL THE WAY to the top of the pedal travel, and it still wouldnt let go. I know that it was as far as it could be, because I adjusted it out until it slipped a little, then I turned my firewall adjuster in a little to make sure it was all grip. Still caught third every time. THE CLUTCH COULDNT HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED TIGHTER! My spec on the other hand is adjusted looser than the d/f was, and it completely releases and engages, no ground up gears.
Secondly,
V8only are you serious?? Spec stage 3 disc thicker than a used centerforce? Have you ever seen a spec 3 disc???? The stage 3 is a ceramic button disc, whereas the centerforce is an organic. The beaten centerforce I took out had twice the total thickness than the brand new spec! No joke! Ceramic discs are much more aggressive, and wear slower than an orgainic, so there is much less material. SO I AM NOT BURNING MY NEW SPEC OUT AT STOP LIGHTS!
Lastly,
I am not knocking the HOLDING power of a d/f, the easy clutch effort was nice, and the things can be beat and hardly wear at all, BUT when you spend 1500 bux on an awesome transmission, all the above goes out the window when you hear and feel crunch when you shift! My new spec is either on or off, it chatters a little, but it doesnt need some centrifugal weights to help it hold. All in all, I will never put a centerforce in another car I own. You can say I am talking s***, and that I am spreading meaningless b.s. all over the internet, but I have personal expirience with more than one of these clutches, therefore I feel I have more than a right to say CENTERFORCE SUCKS!

I feel your anger Mean88. Although I disagree when you say Centerforce suck's. I just find it very odd that the clutch was giving you problem's like that. Never heard anyone having problem's like that. Maybe you got a defective unit with S**t spring's or wrong press. plate height or something? What was the part number of the Dual Friction kit you used? I'm curious.

I am more upset that people on here are giving me crap than I am about the clutch. I cant believe that the spec can engage/disengage in such a short throw of the clutch pedal, compared to the d/f. When I was running a t5 my other d/f would not let me into second above 5k. Overall, I am very dissapointed with the fact that the clutches wouldnt release.
I couldnt tell you off the top of my head what the number for that is, sorry.
