Chambered vs. unchambered mufflers?

Really its to subjective to say straight through is better than chambered since dyno results will show marginal differences and the sound is a personal choice.
Perhaps with your average N/A set up the difference is marginal, but when you really start moving some air through your engine with some sort of power adder, the strait through mufflers out-perform chambered mufflers by a tidy margin.

are bassanis chambered or not i looked on their site but couldnt find that out and never have heard one on person.

Bassani exhaust mufflers that look rectangular in shape are chambered. The Bassani race mufflers which look like a "can" are straight-through mufflers.

Just look at it this way, if the muffler is shaped as a "cylindrical can," it's straight-through. If it looks like a rectangular box (like Flowmaster 40's), then its chambered.

Bassani is straight-through.

You know we all love you Seraphitia, but you'd better quit while you're behind on this topic, you haven't been right yet. :D

All Bassani mufflers are strait through design, regardless of exterior shape.

I've got the Magnaflow 5" x 8" Mufflers on my car, which are of the Strait through variety. They can be had in both round and rectangular/oval body styles...

....Magnaflow also sells their XL Muffler which come in both rectangular/oval and round body style....and wouldn't you know it, they're chambered mufflers.

Dynomax mufflers also come in either strait through and chambered design and both utilize a rectangular body style.

Bottom line....exterior shape doesn't signify the style of muffler being used.
