Changing leaf springs tough?

IM thinking about changing my leaf springs soon, im trying to redo the entire suspension before I drop in an engine and get the body work done but as far as leaf springs is it as easy as it looks to replace them?

Usually not. Depends on the condition of the old ones. Quite often the through bolt in the fron has siezed to the metal sleeve in the bushing, and it takes very large persuasion or heat to get them out. If you have to do that on your back, you may vow to do it never again. A Midas shop or something like it is often very reasonable and they have torches and air hammers. Quite often it is money well spent.

Like people said, it depends on the condition of the springs and what tools you have. Mine came out very easily, but they also were not rusted in. The most difficult part of the rear suspension removal was getting the front eye bolt past my dual exhaust. I had to unbolt parts of my exhaust and lever it out of the way to get the bolt out. The bolt itself came right out, though.

If you are going to replace them yourself, you might have to get a sawsall with some carbon metal cutting blades. I spent a good 12 hours fighting with my 2 eye bolts before I got them out (in 3 pieces each!).

If you do the job buy new bolts and use generous amounts of antisieze on them when reinstalling the springs as it will save your butt or someone else's in the future.
