Hi all,
I have a 2000, 5 speed GT. It has been having problems for a while, and they are now being addressed. It has always been a bad idler, and has always knocked during acceleration and idling. It always seemed like it was misfiring. I replaced all spark plugs and cleaned the injectors, etc. Recently, i think my gas tank was over filled. I had massive leakage at the pump (attendant filled it while I got a coffee) which seemed to be coming from the top of the fuel tank (it has leaked a few times since then even when not filling completely). Not long after, the check engine light went on. After running diagnostics, a P0455 code came out (evap system gross leak). In doing some light research, I replaced the selenoid/valve in the front passenger fender, which most people said is usually the problem. However, the heavy smell of gas and poor idling and performance are still there (no CEL for a while). Yesterday when i started it after not driving at college for a couple days, it sputtered, struggled and stalled after about 3 seconds. I then restarted it giving some gas, and it finally rev'd up and stayed on. It has even stalled on me on the road a couple times!... I do not know what exactly is wrong, but if someone could tell me the exact physical location of the charcoal canister (rear drivers side well?) that would be great, I think it may have been damaged with the overfill... Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated! please help!
