Cheap tires

Greetings, I need to replace my tires. I would like to burn them off and do doughnuts and all sort of tire abuse. What would be a good cheap tire to get. I bet you guys must buy cheap tires for this purpose. Thanks.

Guess that would work. But I mean what tires do you guys use. I bet not everyone gets the 150 buck ones.

Fuzion ZRI. They are just over $100 a piece for a 245/45/17

michelin pilot sports a/s in 275/40/17 about $340 a piece.

@ $340 each. I wouldn't even drive on those tires

hey they have about 18k miles on them and still look decent, except for the feathering on the edges from hard cornering.

havent deceided what to do for replacements. i might make my current wheels track only wheels and get some slicks, and pick up some SSR GT3s for street and get Michelin PS2s for street tires.

I've ran some Kumho 712s on my car and they were a pretty good tire. They were the cheapest on tirerack at the time

I believe i'll be going the Sumitomo route this time since I only need 2 tires and for $66 each it'll be nice

I currently have the General Exclaim (I believe that is the name) on the rear of the car that need replaced. They were good tiries, though have taken some abuse so I need some new rubber. I had to avoid an accident by locking up, so one of the tires is showing a tadbit of metal

I'm running the 712's as a winter tire on my winter wheels. They are ok, but suck in the snow. I don't drive in the snow anyway, but in warm weather they are pretty decent.


Although i can't wait til springtime is here so i can put my OEM bullitts on with my new Bridgestone Potenza S-03's

What is snow? We get no such thing in my area

I don't exactly see the point of spending $250+ for each tire unless the car is a regular at auto-x events The tires aren't lasting any longer than the cheap tires, and I really don't have to feel bad about burning down a $90 tire compared to a $250+

I have a set of Nitto 555's in 245/25 on our car. They are definetly a slow wearing tire. I have about 26k miles on them and they show no wear. Then again, we put 42k on our stock gatorbacks, so maybe it's more of a driver thing

They were cheap. ~400 a set I think. Only thing I DON"T like about them is they follow every friggin line in the road. IMO, the car became a task to drive, trying to keep it between the lines. My wife hates then and can't wait until they wear out (which could be another 30k miles )

Just ordered the Sumitomo tires for the rear. Sadly I had a flat this morning, how ironic since I just mentioned it in this thread

I'm confused - you need to replace your existing tires, right? ("I need to replace my tires")
you want to burn off your existing tires, right? ("I would like to burn them off")
and you want to buy cheap tires to burn off too? ("What would be a good cheap tire to get...you guys must buy cheap tires for this purpose...")
Are you talking about buying tires to drive on or burn off or both?

Are you even close to 19 YO? Maybe 14 or 15? I'd laugh my ass off if you ended up smoking your clutch, fing up your brakes, breaking an axle, etc, etc, etc. Is it worth it? Go smoke some crack instead.

+1 for sumitomo htrz

they are cheap. i think like $88 or so for a 275. even cheaper for a narrower size. but they are actually a really decent tire
