Avondale, Az
whats up, just joined stangnet forums after buying my first car about 2 weeks ago. I bought a 1985 Mustang GT T-Top for $1800 (Actually $1798, long story...) It has a Edelbrock Torquer II 302 Manifold, a monster Holley 750CFM double pumper... too big replacing soon, V-Force Exhaust or so the seller said. MSD 6-Series Ignition Controller, MSD Blaster 2 coil, MSD Distributor, and a ProForm Billit Shifter. That's the stuff that's installed. Also came with a Trick Flow Stage 1 Cam, Ford Lightweight Crankshaft, and Competition Cams rocker arms. Also has 35,000 miles on professional rebuild, and a 2,300 on new tranny, A/C even works (only on high though, but I live in Az so its all gravy). Body is in good shape except paint, i have already sanded the whole body and primered, but ran out of time for sanding so body is still kinda rough. Interior is great except for a cig burn in back seat, int. color is grey. Well I think that's it but if I remember something else i'll add it later. laterz

Welcome! Stangs are great project cars and with such an array of parts for them it's not hard to get what you need. This is my second stang after finally giving up the 89' GT That I had going very well. I really am missing that car now but I got this new 87' GT for $1,000. Black with a few dents and dings and a lot of original stuff that's going through replacement. Only bad thing (or good either way you look at it) is it's the original 5.0 with 280k miles :(.

Good luck on your project, I know I got mine for an even harder project than my 89' and I know I got more than I bargained for. Things like this take time, effort, and a heck of a lot of more time - one day it'll come all together and you couldn't be possibly more proud of yourself!

BTW. Stay with the double pumper carb setup but downgrade to a 650 cfm Holley and from what you've listed it should run fairly well.

650 D-Pump dont sound too bad. But the thing that really sux is that I have to buy heads before i can install the camshaft. Im kinda new at this stuff, all the things ive learned was from my brother and helping him with his mustang but, do I have to buy/do anything to install the crank?

what heads do are the the best for my cam?

STAGE 1 TRICK FLOW TRACK HEAT ROLLER CAMSHAFT

TFS-51402000 : PART NUMBER
274°/279° : ADVERTISED DURATION
221°/225° : DURATION @ 0.050"
.312/.319 : CAM LIFT
.499/.510 : VALVE LIFT W 1.6 ROCKER
112° : LOBE SEP.

Try grabbing a set of heads that are around 1.84"-1.90" intake valves. If you get a set designed to run a 2.02" than you are grossly overkilling your cam with too much air. You don't have an extreme cam and you definitely don't have a mild cam. I've heard huge success with the Edelbrock heads and although I like the TFS wedge heads, they are a pain to utilize and install.
