I found one thread with no follow-up. D&D can do me a kit for $3,699:lol: That's fine and probably not a bad price, but I can fab and have had great success with wrecking yard tranny's.

Mcleod has a bell housing to adapt from chevy http://www.mcleodind.com/

Anybody done this?

I am just starting to research what to pull a T56 from and what would need to be done to get it installed. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Perhaps no adapter is needed if you can find a T56 behind a 302 in another ford?

The bellhousing kit is about $500 and a used tranny ranges from $500 to $1000. If you can get a great deal on a low mileage tranny this could be a viable route.
Then there is the matter of input/output splines. My 89 GT T5 is 10 in and 28 out. So I wonder if any chevy stuff matches up???? Looks like they are 26 in and 30 out. Out is easy with a yoke replacement, but in......not!

I am trying to get Mcleod tech but it's always busy.
