Hey guys, quick rim question for those of you living in snow-prone areas. I've got a set of chrome cobra R's that i run all spring and summer, and the last few years ive been putting the tri-bars back on in november because im afraid road salt will damage the chrome. We dont get much snow where i live (central MD) but whenever bad weather is forecast the road crews salt the hell out of everything. I'd never drive the car in snow or slush, but sometimes i do drive it when theres salt crystals still on the road. So My question: Will dry salt on the roads damage the chrome? I always keep them clean and polish/wax them at least once a month. I just put the tribars on last week but with the new paint and front end, they just ruin the look of the car. any advice would be great.

Keep the tribars on. They're only $10 for some wheel paint at Autozone to keep looking good. Having the Cobra R's rechromed would have you looking at probably $100 per wheel + shipping.

chrome+salt= problems

yeah dude any salt will start to pit your rims. Salt is salt bud. I mean Im sure if you spray your rims down right after you drive them with soap and water you should be okay, but then again who does this everytime they drive. And for you...with all the crews salting everything bro at the very least wash your rims and keep that salt off. Dont let it sit. If its not too much trouble yeah just put the chrome away...as long as you can do it safely and its not too much of an inconvenience.
