In my quest for long tubes i have discoverd that all the places that have good prices only sell the chrome version of the BBK longtubes for my 04 GT...

now the question is, How much of a benefit is there by going with a ceramic coated long tube over the Chrome long tubes?

obviously the under hood temps will remain lower with the ceramic, but how will the power be effected? also how hard would it be to get the chrome ones ceramic coated?

Well, the chrome ones will definitely rust.

ok, then there has to be somewhere that sells the freaking things for less than 500 for the headers alone...

i found one site a few nights ago that was selling them for 491 + free shipping, but why in the hell are these things so expensive, theres nothing special about them.. the 5.0 headers are almost half the price...

Headers are around $1200 installed

What a colossal waste of money...

thats why you dont pay other people to touch your car....

install for me = helping someone else do an install... so its no big deal...

what else should i spend my money on to get more power/speed?

cams? those are nearly 1200 for parts and give nearly the same gains... TB/Plenum? 500 for 5hp? i think not.

Holley's Noszle system costs $1200 and you might be able to feel a slight increase in HP

Go find a used set of longtubes... I picked mine up for around $300 shipped with midpipe, and they are ceramic coated...

Honestly, if you want a pretty quick car, go buy a blower and don't worry about the other stuff till you get used to the power of the blower lol.

ceramic FTW! Chrome will look cool going on your car, but will rust and look like crap later. And yeah, LTs are expensive. Like Benny said find a set of used ones or just slap a blower on you stang

i dont want a blower... i want longtubes, iknow everything is expensive, but im not one for getting used exhaust parts anymore... thats why my prochamber fits like crap...

i dont see what in the hell causes the BBK Ceramic coated headers to cost 500 when i can get the same thing for a 87-93 fox for 100 bucks less.... its not a lack of tubing, its just them being ghey, but i want them anyways lol...

Killy is right - Chrome will rust like a bastard.

Install is a ******. Its a good NA mod but its not cheap if your paying someone to install em. If you are going to install yourself then dont think twice - get em.

I got BBK shorties instead for 270, installed for 150 (friend price). I plan on a tranny swap and i'd rather do it without messing with headers again, so that was another reason to go shorts.
Was it worth 420...? maybe not but it made more difference than the plenum/tb did .

Well, I do have the shorty BBKs and they are chrome. Had them for about 5 months, and they have a small bit of rust on them, Im not concerned with that. Have you seen the way the manifolds look when you take them off? They still worked fine. The power difference is minimal, but had to do something because I already had the pro-chamber and I broke the bolt off of my stock manifolds. about 500 for everything. Im satisfied
