Cleaning the bay

Hey guys Ive been wondering what i need to know to clean out my bay. I took out the A/C,and smog pump already but want to take out the EGR,and Evap, and I want to put a manual brake master cylinder and anything else that would clean the bay out totally. Thanks guys I need all the information i could get.

Well the engine would be my first choice. :rlaugh: try hiding the wires, granted it doesn't do much for clearing up space, but it does make it look better. Electric low profile fan, or moving the battery to the trunk would my suggestions.

mansonozz has a great write up on hiding wires. Just getting a few parts out of the way can clean the engine bay up alot, im satisfied with how mine works even with all the wires everywhere. Simple green and a hose works WONDERS! I also use simple green on the paint inside the engine bay, I dont scrub it but if you spray it just alittle and wipe it off with a paper towel or rag it will take off all the dirt.

manual brakes to clean up the engine bay???

Anyway with that aside, I would:

use a CAI (filter in the fender),

battery in the trunk,

electric fan,

clean little overflow tank,

clean up vacuum lines,

fill in all the left over holes,

hide firewall harness (mine going inside car),

hide other harnesses such as MAF, etc... in the fender,

other side with the millions of wires going to the solenoid, use a large wire from the solenoid and link it to the others behind the fender (or the entire solenoid for that matter),

remove nipple squirter things (hose and tank),

tubular k-member

anyway that's what I'm doing... should look cleaner than most carb'd engine bays once I'm done!

The "Quicklift" hood struts do an amazing job of cleaning up the prop rod area and giving it a nice look. IMO, anyway. They look like this:

I was leary of spending the money on them but I am very glad I did.

As everyone else said, rerouting/hiding wiring harnesses and electrical components will do wonders. Rerunning hoses so they tuck away/etc. helps as well. Then to step it up a bit you can fill in all the holes in the sheetmetal, paint it, flatten/smooth out the dips and valleys, etc. The biggest thing is the wiring harnesses and having the overall engine look clean and nice.

The writeup mob mentioned can be seen up here: http://www.soniccherry.com/ but that's just to give you an idea of how to go about doing it. At the end of the day, you can stick the harnesses wherever they fit and are out of the way. They connect to each other just ONE way, so it can't be messed up and it all basically ends up the same way. The only diff. will be how exactly/where exactly you route them out of the way (inside the fenderwell, naturally).

you could eat off of that :p

the top, anyway. the bottom gets road grime accumulation a lot  I clean it but it comes back quick.

Just do one thing at a time, or a few things at a time, and you'll eventually end up like the rest of us nuts. :rlaugh:

Not sure on schematics but check out 50tech.com and http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/ Good luck. Mostly the things that can be elimiated don't run along the strut towers, so you can move those without worry. they all fit nicely in the fenderwell so you don't have to worry anyway. The vacuum hoses and emissions/egr stuff is another story.

well not as clean as mansonozz but this is what I did
