i just bought a set of cobra r rims for my '85 stang GT and was wondering if they will fit without any modifications. the rims are 17X9.my main concern is the fact that they look pretty wide. i haven't bought tires yet but plan to run 245/45/17's all around..............thanks

do 85's have quads?

i don't think they do...

you should be fine...any tire that is under 26 X 10 1/2 will fit w/ reversing or removing the quads...are you going 5 lug? or these are 4-lugs?

Might have to trim a little on the inner fender. I have 03 Cobra style wheels on mine and had to add 1 1/4" spacers. Mine was actually rubbing on the A Arm. My adise to you is to go with a 250/40 R17. I am running Falken B451's at a 245/40 R17 and they seem a little narrow for the 9" wheel.

agreed, the only problem u would have is the quads. ur might not have them. just check and see. if u have them u will have to flip them to get the room u need. if i was u i would put 245/40/17 in front ans 255/40/17 out back. i think if u have wider tire in back then u do the front it will look better IMO. but go with what u like, its ur car!

I agree with Matti469. The wheels will probably rub on your A arms. You may have to use steering rack limiters or wheel spacers. I have 17x9s on my 1990 and they rub at full lock.

Good luck
