I just tore down my 302 and I am in the process of building a stroker motor, either 3.400 (347) or 3.470 (354). I know you have to clearance the bottom of the cylinder walls for the rod bolts, my question is How big do you make the notches?? I want to have this done before my parts come in so i dont have to waste time mocking it up. So if someone could please let me know how Wide and how Deep their notches are I would be much appreciated.

Also, does the block need to clearanced anywhere else with the larger counterweights??

Also, is anyone using the bigger 3.470 crank??

Thanks :flag:

Notches should be in between a half inch to 3/4 inch deep but you will have to assemble a piston and lay the crank in ti figure out where exactly the notches will be. You can use the same piston just put it in each cylinder and rotate the crank until the bolt barely touches the block mark with sharpie and move on. Use die grinder and round file (Round file important).

I marked the center of the stock bolts to the cylinder, so I already know where the center is. I just wanted to know how wide and deep everyone is making theirs. We have a bridgeport at work, so Im not going to mess around with a die grinder for hours...
