You can do it, you would want the aussie 2v or the 4v heads. It wouldnt be fun on the street though, in order to make power you have to turn it tight witht these heads and it seems most people dont have the balls to take it to 8500 or so. The would work well with a boosted setup though.
 
You have to have a set of custom pistons made to use them btw. I know several people that run combos like this. Most of the high dollar race motors have cleveland style heads on them. I wouldnt say this would be a good route for everyone as it requires alot more thinking then your typical windsor build, but if done right I am sure anyone would be pleased with the results.
 
351c heads will fit the 302w block and 351w ford racing some where in there book tells how to do it but u do have to change pistons valve are in the heads a diff way then the 302 heads. the old boss 302 was a 302w block with 351c heads also 351c heads on the winsor block u have to mod the intake to the port size also u have to drill holes in the heads so water can flow in them easy way to find every thing that has to be done its all in the ford racing not sure what page. and some of the 351c heads have big valve lot of 2.08 1.65 i found a set with 2.250 and 1.76 some have 2,19 1,65 http://www.panteraplace.com/Tech Info/Jones 2 4V2V heads.jpg

I've heard people talk about this before, and the general conclusion was that you're better off with a good set of aftermarket heads made for the 302. Cleveland heads can be bolted to a windsor block (302 or 351), but modern aftermarket heads are good enough to make it not worth the effort.

Cleveland heads are some of the best flowing heads ford ever made. You would want either the 4v heads or the aussie heads like stated before. Can you just bolt them on? No, there is a pretty decent amount of machining and $$ involved. Thats basicly what a boss 302 is (302 with cleveland heads) which made good power for what it was. Depends on what your trying to do, if its a track car the heads can be sick on a high reving engine or with nitrous. A street car with heads that size on a 302 wouldnt make power until your up in the rpm which wouldnt really make to much fun for the street. Sounds like a nice set of alum heads or some World product heads would work well for you.
 
If you can get Cleveland heads for $50-$75 a pair, it could be worth it. The last Ebay auction I saw, the heads started at $250 or so. That makes it much less attractive.

The heads will need to have hardened valve seats installed to be used with unleaded fuel. That adds $275-$400 to the cost. Then you need adapters to mate your existing manifold to the Cleveland heads - see http://www.pricemotorsport.com/ for the adapters. The 2V adapters are $255, the 4v adapters are $267. If you use the 4V heads, you need a set of port stuffers to reduce the port volume in increase the flow velocity - that adds $112 plus maybe $150 worth of machine work to install the stuffers. Then you need to modify the heads and block to make the water passages line up. New push rods and gaskets are needed too.

$75 heads
$350 machine work
$225 manifold adapters
$650
If you paid $350 for the heads, that works out to $1000, and a good set of used Trick Flows or AFRs could be had for that price

4V heads

$150 port stuffer machine work
$924
If you paid $350 for the heads, that works out to $1274, which is in the price range for a new set of AFR's


If you have to change the pistons, this isn't a bargain. If you can run the 2V heads and stock pistons (don't know if this is possible), it could be a cheap upgrade.

Very true but the 4v heads arent going to be found for $75, and the 2v heads arent worth it. A decent set of 4v heads go for around $400 so it really isnt worth it for a street car.
 
My buddy has a completely worked set of Australian Cleveland heads with over $1000 bucks in them. He went 12.0's all day long with a stock block and mild cam. With the right solid cam, he would have been doing low 11's easy. His cam really held him back. If you're interested, pm me.
