My car is going into the shop tomorrow to be looked at but I wanted to know some of your thoughts. My car has this clunking noise (not rattling) in the front left of the car. It is not associated with the engine or transmission. It is often but not necesarrily associated with bumps. It can also be affected by big sweeping turns (like at the beginning of the off ramp). It is also affected by changes in torque (I have an automatic). When I am accelerating and then let off the gas so it shifts it will clunk then. It will also clunk when I go in reverse then shift to drive so the torque changes. Someone told me it may be a strut tower. Does that sound realistic? Is it something to do with the axle or thereabouts? It has not been a big problem and isn't even noticed when just driving straight down the highway. What is your thought so I can sound intelligent when I take it into the shop tomorrow (so they don't try and rip me off). Thanks for the input.
