i'm still getting things taken off to pull my engine with tranny but two issues arised.

1. when removing the drive shaft bolts, should i keep the car in gear so the drive shaft does not spin? it is a 5 speed. also, i drained my tranny fluid already, so would it still be ok to put the car in gear to keep the drive shaft from spinning when removing the bolts?

2. i was trying to get the clutch cable off the bellhousing. i removed the dust sheild but i can not get the treaded section throught the channel to pop out of the bigger hole. a picture is attached i took with my cell phone. any advice on how to get the cable to go through the channel? i have enough slack but it seems that section of the cable is too big to make it through the channel.

thanks

For the drive shaft, I left my trans in gear to loosen the bolts that I could access. Then I put it in neutral so I could spin the drive shaft around to access the other bolts. Reverse process when reinstalling. I suppose you could engage the parking brake as well to keep it from spinning. At the time mine did not work so I didn't do it that way.

You can shift the trans it wont hurt a thing, be sure to use reg Dextron/Mercon III ATF when refilling. For the cable, just hold the cable and unscrew the nut, it usually is a 13mm...youll have to reset it all when you put it back in anyway. OR you can use a small pry bar and push the clutch fork in and then the cable will fit through the hole
