I'm bumping this because I HATE THAT FREAKIN' POS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's the story of my afternoon. On very little sleep, I woke up early, and started running around town. I had several places I needed to stop. Second to last was harbor freight where I bought a new jack, jack stands, and a creeper all for like $110. I love that store. Anyway, I then headed to the storage unit I just rented. I park, unload my stuff, and get pack in the car. At this time its about 2pm, and starting to rain. I push in the clutch pedal on my 93 2.3, hear a click sound, and the pedal shot right to the floor. ****, I just snapped my clutch cable. I get out in the rain, on my new creeper, and look at things. I notice the cable is a little different looking than a 5.0s. My roommate went through 3 last week in 24 hours, so I am use to seeing those. Anyway, I didn't see a break, but still knew something was messed up. After some quick call, I find me roommate is 3 hours away at the beach, and all my friends are at work. GREAT!!! Its not like I have to be at work in 2 hours. To not bother with driving all the way my unit, I just parked up front, and carried my stuff back there. It started downpouring, so I get in my car, and just chill to the radio while thinking WTF I am going to do. About 4-5 minutes later, a couple workers come over, and ask whats up. I told them I believe I snapped my clutch cable. They offer to push my car over, into my storage unit using there golf cart that has a huge padded front bumper. Once back there, I ask them where the closest parts store is. They tell me its about 4 block away. I thank them, and start my walk. Not 4 steps later, they offer to give me a ride. I'm not going to turn that down, so I thank them, and accept their offer. We go, get the cable, and return. I just bought a jack and jack stands, so I was lucky in that sense. The two workers/owners offer to give me a hand installing it. I get up under the car, and what do I see? The clutch cable ISN"T snapped. Its some ****ed up secondary cable. The 2.3s use some stupid ass setup where the pedal yanks a small 2 inch cable, which then pivots a plate where the real clutch cable clips into. We call the parts store, and NO ONE knows what we are trying to describe. Hell, now home, I can't even find stuff about it in my Chiltons. One of these two guys' dads walks by and sees what going on. His son explains whats broken. His responce, "well go back to our unit, and weld tha damn thing back together!" I'm thinking, "Um, is this really going to work. 5 minutes later, we have this tiny cable welded back together. Another 5 minutes later, and it was installed. I push in the cluch a couple times, and I'll be damned, it feels as good as new. I thanked them many time, but quickly hauled ass home to wask my now soaked, dirty, greasy self, so I can get to work.
