Should there be freeplay at the top of the pedal? when you are completely off of it? The pedal is hard from the moment you put your foot on it and push it in, there is no free area.

With your foot on the clutch (to the floor) you can lift until about 3/4 of the way up until it engages, so there is plenty of play there, but should there be play at the top (off the pedal) also? I have a FMS clutch.

Thanks.

I know on all my other vehicles, there is a loose part of the pedal, up top. There is no pressure for 1-2". This car has a FMS clutch and it is just solid up top, no freeplay.

If there is supposed to be play, I would like to fix it so I dont kill my clutch.

the way to test for clutch adjustment is.

with the car in first gear and idleing let your foot off the clutch pedal very slowly untill the rpm's start to drop and the car wants to move.. you should have it do this when your about 2 inches from the floor.

the cable should have little to no slack with your foot off the clutch. too much slack will cause a pedal chatter when your foot is off the clutch and will cause the pedal to be too low.
