I took my buddies out for a little ride the other night and when i went from 4th to 5th, the car lost almost all power to the wheels. It will drive as long as it doesn't have anything to go up. My driveway starts up a little hill and I had to get a pretty good running start to go up it. Then it almost didn't make it. It still idles and revs good, but just no power. Does this sound like the clutch or the transmission. I also have not been able to get it in the air to take everything apart yet. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Paul

I don't remember smelling anything. It never did die, it just lost all power. It still revs and runs really smooth.

Define, "lost all power." Did the engine rev up like the clutch pedal was pushed in or did it fall on it's face? Basically, without pushing in the clutch, did the motor increase or decrease the RPMs?

I want to say the RPMs dropped. When I was coming up the little hill to the house, it almost died from boggin down. I will see if it will go down the drive way tomorrow and remember what it does.

simply put, a slipping clutch will allow the motor to rev when you push the gas, but you dont move proportionately. it is like driving a healthy car with the clutch pushed halfway in.

did you pull codes?
good luck.
