Clutch or a Belt going bad?

Well where to start. A few thousand miles ago I thought that my clutch was wearing and slipping. The dealer said it was fine so I brushed it off. In the morning when its cold I get a squeaky noise like a belt is slipping and sometimes I get a high pitched whine when I idle down. :notnice:

Today at the car wash I noticed that when I put the clutch in that it made a sqweaky noise like when its cold, but only when the clutch was engaged for the most part :bang:. I hope its not my clutch because I'm only at 17K and don't want a big bill before spring break.

<Rant>Also side rant because I have to say it: New emission testing of the gas cap and Inspection sticker cost me $65 bucks in Erie, PA :bs: and I needed nothing. Also I have a cut in each of my rear tire treads (the Goodyears) I guess and wouldn't have passed inspection if not for my studded snows being on. </Rant>

my car has been doing that for the last couple of months. only happened when I put pressure on the clutch. I knew it was the throwout bearing, but I was to lazy to to anything about it. Now my cars up on jacks because the bearing decided to explode yesterday as I was driving down the road, producing a ear piercing metal grinding scream that echoed through the mountains.

Can you change the TO Bearing without changing the clutch? Think it would fall under the 3 Yr 36000 War? I know the clutch is a "wear item" and is only for 12000 but I'm hoping as I talked to the service manager before they may do something about it if its the problem.
