my car is a 1990 vert gt 125,000 miles on it mostly stock. My clutch had always( for the 2 years ive owned it) grabbed very near the floor like an inch or or 1and a half off the floor and also grinded into reverse if the clutch wasnt all the way to the floor and if i didnt go into third gear beforee putting it in reverse. I would try the automatic adjustment on the pedal but it wouldnt really do anything. then today after racing it on a road trip it all of sudden came out of adjustment wheni got off the freeway. It actually got a little bit stiffer than usual and when i shifted into secondmy rpms shot way up , didnt really know what was goin on. so on my way home thew peadl seemed about regular stiffness but it wasnt grabbing until the clutch pedal was almost all the way out.. when i got home i drove around the block and launched my car (3000 rpms dump the clutchand mash the pedal once spinning) it still seemed to have power once the pedal was all the way out, and intrying chirp second wasnt happening maybe because of my timing with the pedal out of wac. So what do think is goin on guys??? its all stock stuff thanks for any help

Sounds like your stock linkage is toast. Time to upgrade. Do a search on cables or quadrants and you'll be info'd to death with all you need to know to make a decision. Do it now, before the cable snaps or the quadrant gives you the big FU. If your clutch is still stock, you may want to start thinking about that too, sounds lke it may be getting tired as well.

Just time for new clutch..no bid deal. You can learn to do it yourself if you have decent mech skills or have it installed. Probably looking at about 500-700$ to have it done by a pro and the car will rock again.
