Clutch quadrant ?

So can't get the clutch cable to fit, so took the cable off the quadrant. Is there a way to adjust the quadrant to make the clutch cable longer? I heard you can pull up on the pedal, but I'm not sure how hard to pull or how far the pedal will move up, so could some let me know asap please. Does the pedal seem to hit a brick wall, then you keep pulling to adjust it?

put the cable on the quad first with the other end at the tranny disconnected,then hook it on the fork at the tranny.but do yourself a favor and get a firewall adjuster and an aftermarket quadrant,im using a single hook quad and I have had no problems.
