clutch questions

I have a 2000GT too. T-45 is the stock tranny. My stock clutch gave way at 75K miles. So I went with the Spec stage I. I had a very bad experience with the spec..and after 10K miles it was slipping very bad. So I went with the Ford Racing (FRPP) King Cobra and have had no problems with the 20K miles that Ive put on it so far.

Some people have had bad experiences with the King Cobra too..There is multiple issues lately with the clutch disc not holding up.

So if I were you I would either spend an extra 100 bucks and get a Centerforce or Hays or just get the "HD" (Heavy Duty) Ford clutch which is a little cheaper than the King Cobra.

Good Luck!

I just bought the King Cobra for my 00 GT and the instructions state why people were having issues with it, mostly improper installation, so that eased my mind a little because i had also heard bad things about it. It comes with clutch disk, pressure plate, and TOB, but i was told to also get a roller pilot bearing, i picked mine up at a dealer for about $11, might as well while youve got it apart.

Happy with the KC on the 01, despite what some say. I wouldn't hook it up with 400HP, but for a bolt on stang, it's great. Grippy and not too heavy. Definately different than stock.
Bad experience with Spec (2) here as well - friggin POS!
