Mines off center (came with the car) and I hate it. Looks better than a saleen wing on an LX, but still the same idea. Doesn’t belong on a GT.

Make a template & cut with hole saw & jig saw. Very easy & provides better cooling.

Both friends had done this to their cars. Ultimately they used Cervini's cobra insert kit and had body shop bond and finish it to look one piece. Came out good but personally prefer the insert as it is: an add on.

I spoke with a guy who managed to get an actual cobra insert. Said the front was the same as what we can buy but it had a bezel in the back that would bolt the whole thing together

So the difference is just mounting on a bumper that’s prepared for the grille if it’s original?
The ones that are moulded in are aftermarket.

I think so. I just messaged him for more details. But I’m told it’s cut out the same, but aftermarket uses tape and factory had a bezel that would sandwich the parts together .

Maybe one of our cobra owning members can take a peek

Makes sense. So you cut the original bumper and then sandwich the bumper?

Sounds like you need to remove the bumper for that.

I do like the idea of a more secure mount, but doubt it can be retrofitted on a cerbinis insert. Never liked the idea of tape and a pair of screws

Seriously debating installing mine.

Pulled my old bumper inside, a quick look at the back with the insert makes it clear on how to make a bracket. I can get better pics if needed.

But I’d guess some long bolts and some
Spare steel would make an easy install

How would the bolts secure to the grill itself?

Is that an OEM Ford insert?

The cervini's one I have does not have that detail.

Currently talking with a guy online who has a 93 cobra. He was able to get a couple pictures to confirm that bolts in . Just not sure of the mechanics of it yet. Believes he will be pulling his bumper soon, maybe even this weekend for a repair, I will hopefully be getting really good detailed pictures

Not an oem part. It was part of a unbranded kit a picked up and sold the sides

I see. Apparently they are not all the same. I like the way that one mounts.

The Cervini's one has no provision like that, so you are using double stick tape and a couple screws in the corner. I never had the warm and fuzzies about it being as secure

It honestly looks like something you could make outta cardboard and then fiberglass over.

My old one had a fiberglass back piece....two studs were on the front piece. Shouldn't be hard to mock up. Mine kinda bowed out on the sides and left a weird gap. That was the only reason I blended the sides.

Why mess with all the problems with an insert, when you can just cut some holes or slots?
Ford didn't do it for looks, GT's had cooling issues & the Cobra would have made it worse, since it had a bit more horsepower.
There was no direct air path to the radiator, the front air dam was supposed to direct air up, into, & through it.

Because inserts look better than holes cut in the bumper cover.
