So, I really had my heart set on a 99 or 01 Cobra, but I just found a 96 Cobra for sale, absolutely showroom quality, 7200 miles. It's white, which bums me out, because I wanted one in blue/black/DSG. My question is, how do the 96-98 Cobras compare to the 99 and 01 Cobras? I know all of the differences for the 2Vs, but have no idea about the DOHCs. What's the HP differences, and what types of problems would I expect, if I get it? The thing is absolutely gorgeous. The stickers are even still on the exhaust!

Well I would not buy a white Mustang but it sounds like you found a nice one. What is the asking price?

96-98 have the b heads which aren't as good NA as a C head that is on a 99/01. Also they have IMRC's where the 99/01 have tumble port head design.

The B heads are good for Forced induction, but have to be worked and you won't see them really shine until 7500+

96-99 have the T 45 trans where the 01 has the 3650 trans. 96-98 has a solid axle where the 99/01 has an IRS.

It's a stealership, and they are asking 15k for it. I have a lead on a black 99 Cobra with 80k, for 12,500, or a vandalized black 01 Cobra, with 23k miles, 12k obo. This white one is just so mint, I had to at least consider it. I forgot about that IMRC nonsense. Although, the solid axle is a good thing.

What is wrong with white mustangs? They are hard to keep clean, that's the only downside I have... that and a bird poop magnet when shining.

it would come down to what body style you want, sn-95 or new edge, both are great cars with a 4 cam

Ok then, I think you should get the super low mileage Cobra. It will be awesome even if it is white!

What kind of oil do you plan on putting in it and will you use antiseize on the plug threads?
