I have an 04 GT and was wondering what actually needs to be done to swap in a 03-04 Cobra engine, I have an automatic so I'm pretty sure this will add to the complicity, but how much would we generally be talking here? I also have a SCT tuner and I know a few forums I have read have said that there is tuning problems but since the SCT is preloaded couldn't I just toss in the preloaded Cobra tune? Also if I have to replace my transmisson would I be better off talking the trans off of a cobra, it appears totaled cars that are being parted out are the way to go purchase wise, but still a little foggy on the whole situation.

Would I be better just building up the 2V ? is the 4V cobra even worth it? I have heard with a 2.1 KB the 04 GT's can whack stock cobras with a few bolt ons, This True?

Looking forward to replies

My suggestion would be to sell the GT and just buy a Cobra. After the money you spend converting it just wouldn't be worth the time and hassle.

If you want to supercharge go with the Kenne Bell...or one of the centrifical SC. Less tuning troubles.

if you're doing the swap because you enjoy working with your hands and and want a little challenge it's probably not a bad idea to do it...there is a lot of good information out there in the interwebz...

but if you're just looking for more horsepower, a supercharger for your 2v or trading it for a Cobra or Mach 1 probably makes more sense

turbo maybe? slightly less money more efficient. Now I will admit that I am at noob when it comes to forced induction on the mustang, but WHEN i do go FI, I will be going the turbo route. Do some searching on craigslist for mustang parts man and follow the advice mentioned above, supercharge the 2V or sell and get a 03-04 cobra.
