So, I was going to take take my 95 to have some drivetrain vibration figured out and it decided to pull another antic on me yesterday (was gonna take it in today).
I don't want to take it in w/ 2 problems, so I wanna solve this before I move onto the vibration issue.

I started hesitating lika a bitch, cel light came on. I came up w/ these codes-
176 lean left bank o2
177 rich left bank o2
542 open circuit fuel relay

I've read that 542 can be a ghost code if the car has stalled or something. I haven't had an inner fender liner in on the pass. side, and it can get kinda sputtery if it's wet out (only driven it twice like that), so I hope that's the problem.

Am I correct in guessing that since the same o2 is reading lean and rich, it's probably bad? The car has 109K on it and I don't know if the o2's have ever been changed (bought it w/ 108K).

I do have LT's on the car, too. I'm looking to buy some new o2's from www.oxygensensors.com

OEM 4 Walker $46.90 250-4001
OEM 4 Denso $49.99 234-4001
Universal 4 Walker $59.95 250-24400

Which one of these do I get???

Thanks alot,

J

You are getting the 176 and 177 codes from your O2's but only because you have LT on your car too. Since the O2 sensors on LT's are further down, the air temp cools down more giving it a lean reading, then tells the car to give it more fuel to even it out so thats why your car might smell rich when idiling... I know thats whats causing my car to smell that way.

edit... Just looked back over. How are you getting a rich and lean left bank??? Maybe you read the code wrong?

Triple checked the code.
Was wondering if reading a rich and lean cond. would mean that the o2 was going out? Would seem possible, kinda coming and going?

Any suggestions on which sensor to get?

Thanks,

J
I forgot the brand... Auto Zone carries them. Go in and ask for an O2 sensor for a 94/95 mustang. It might be a good idea to replace both if you have high mileage on your car. They might try and sell you 4 (the 4.6's need for) but you'll only need two.
