Initial impressions:

MMR Coil-overs: The passenger's side rattles a good bit. People have said coil-overs can be like this and maybe it is normal, but this is worse than I expected. There is a cap that goes inside the top of the tube, but it is a little too small, so the tube has some play. When I go over bumps, the tube rattles and is very noticeable. The driver's side is fine. $169 for the kit. You get what you pay for, I guess.

I'm not done messing with it though; I may be able to figure out something to make it better.

I am still happy with them because I can now set the ride height and go over speed bumps without worrying about scraping.

Strange Struts: Recommended to me by KillerCanary (Paul). Very nice. 10-way adjustable. Other 10-way adjustable struts were closer to $250 each. Mine are currently set to 5. The ride is much less stiff than before. I definately recommend them. $129 each.

MM 4-bolt C/C plates: Very nice. The quality of these is as expected. I got them used from another StangNetter for $100.

Nice, I have the strange 10 ways on the front and MM CC plates too, I am been putting off getting coil overs. Might be selling the car. Glad you like it!!!

I just did upr coil-overs last fall. Mine rattle when you go over large bumps also. I have Qa1 struts which are threaded. I'm going to just get the nuts from Qa1 this spring. Hopefully this will stop the noise.

I have the Strange 10 ways too. I wanted coil over's too but like mentioned they can be noisey. I went with a traditional set up and like it. Just need an alignment.

go to home depot and ask for nylon washers, make sure you get ones that go over your stuts and then slide the coilover tube on the strut, very clean way of stopping ALL the noise, or you could always wrap up the strut body with duct tape JK. the nylon washers will solve your problems, i had the MMR coilovers also and that made the quiet as a stocker.

hehe, i was actually thinking about the duct tape option.

so i get nylon washers that are big enough to fit around the strut and narrow enough to fit between the strut and the inside of the tube?

good idea, i'll look into it.

Mine were rattling BAD on one side, the bolts on the CC plates came loose. Make sure all the bolts up there are nice and tight. I was sacred that I made the wrong decision with coilovers but once I tighted that down and went for a rip I will never think of going with springs again on any vehicle I will mod EVER AGAIN I love my coil-overs!!!

i know for a fact that the bolts are tight. it was just done yesterday.

mine was done that day TIGHT and on the ride home I guess from a few bumps they loosened off I didnt think it was my bolts either. Worth a check if you havent done it unless thats common with your Coilovers, mine are MM and no noise here.

I'm not following on the nylon washer fix... how is a washer going to fit between a strut and a slightly loose tube?

I'm about ready to purchase the D&D kit (want MM, can't afford) and I'm aniticipating noise, and thinking about how to fix. Thought about wrapping metal foil or shim stock around the strut. Anyone else have experience with the D&D's or how to quiet cheap coil overs?

I hated mine so bad I took them off the car and went back to the stock cobra coils and chopped 2 full coils off. I still have the coilovers on the back though, there not to bad, and its nice to adjust my ride height for cruising or to fit my 28" slicks. I had the Granatelli front coilovers and they were very, very noisy!!!

i'm starting to get really annoyed myself. i do not like to drive it anymore, primarily because of the noise.

i have messed around with them a little, but i haven't had an opportunity to take it apart for a few days while i mess around with it. plus the weather hasn't been cooperating (remember i don't have a garage )

Really odd that you have noise. I have none.

There is a part out there called a sister spring. They are really tough to find. I mean super tough usually. They fit coil overs and maintain some pressure to keep things tight, but have no effect on ride at all. I'll do some digging and see if I can find them.

All my MM stuff fits tight and perfect. Sorry to hear you are having troubles. Hope it gets worked out though. I know once it does you will really enjoy the coil-overs.

I hear you about the MM stuff. My MM C/C plates are great. Unfortunately, the coil-overs are from MMR (Mod Mustang Racing), not MM. I guess I should have had lower expectations, seeing how they were only $160.

You get what you pay for.

I haven't lost all hope, i can still try a few things, if only I can find some time ...

Last night I remembered another trick. A friend of mine bought a set of coil overs that were makin lots of noise. He went and bought some rubber coating that you are supposed to dip tools into. He dipped his upper mounts, and filed off the excess so he could get the perch to sit nie and tight. I think it took two coats. I can't remember. Worked really well though, and it looks good to boot.
