I have Ground Pounder Coilovers on my car already. I had to use a spacer for the front when I swapped to 17X9 rims. I cant afford to get the 17X8's so I need to know if I can still use the struts to go back to regular springs (just for now).

I refuse to give up the Tokico Illuminas. If I can't I'll jsut live with the spacers. I want to get rid of them so I can stop the rubbing on the front fender extensions. (without replacing the fenders and extensions)

Have you tried a wheel spacer?

I posted a thread like this yesterday. I am thinking of going coilovers up front but I have 17x9 wheels so I have about 1/4" of clearance as is, coil overs would rub so spacers were suggested to me.

Yeah I already have the spacers on the car. My problem is that with the spacers and the 87-89 front fenders the tires rub the front fender extensions. I was trying to eliminate that by switching to a regular coil spring. Only thing is that I had to cut the Tokico's to get the coilover to fit, now I need to know if the struts are ruined for regular use.

I just installed a set of Bilstein coilovers from MM on my '92 GT with 17" x 9" Cobra R's, and everytrhing went together fine. I am under the assumption that a Bilstein shock body is bigger diameter wise than any other shocks used for coilovers. If so, I don't understand why you would be hitting the rim. What is the backspacing on the wheels?
