Cold cranking amps

OK i have this stang that just makes me sick!! it hasn't worked right in over a year. there fore i never drove it for that long. When i tried to start it the thing did something weird. with weird noises from under the dash. I posted before about it and got some recomendations but never followed up with it. Since cash is tight with me again i figure i'd swap a batterie in it and crank it up and video tape it. then i'd put it on youtube to give you tech heads a better veiw of my car's problem. then that way i can get answers that will be closer to solve the problem.

so i'm wondering instead of buying a new batterie what specifications does a batterie have to have? amps? whatever.

Stock motorcraft batteries have 540 amps. Not sure if thats CCA or just regular CA. Haven't changed on in a while. hehe

In Hawaii, you wont need a lot of CCA's, and the extra capacity supposedly causes batteries to run hotter.

If you suspect a battery issue, I'd charge yours up, or toss a spare battery on, or at least have a buddy come over and use his battery as a jumper. This will help you narrow things down and might save the cost of a battery.

so i got the chance to purchase a napa battery for $50 slightly used.

i haven't seen it yet but they say its 84 over 24 (84 / 24???)

i called napa and the guy wasn't to helpful. i asked him if i can use it in my car. and he said. as long as the cables reach. I'm like wtf.

so i just ask him what is the amps. he said 835.

is that right? should i use the battery?

I would purchase the right battery for your car, but I wouldn't do it unless I knew for sure that the battery was bad. Most autoparts stores will charge your battery and load test it free of charge. I would look into this before spending any money on anything. Like Hissin said, try to borrow a battery or something to help narrow down the problem before throwing parts at it.
