OK I just received Competition Engineering Traction Bars part number CEE-2109, which states that it's for a 65 through 73 Mustang. And as some of you already know it doesn't fit my stock 66 8 inch rear. The stock u-bolts I have are 2 5/8 from center to center and the ones from C.E. are 3 1/2 centers.

I also see on Summit, now that I just learned something, that Lakewood's are for 3 inch axle even though they too say it will fit a 66 Mustang.

So can someone please tell where I can find "slapper bar" type traction bars that will fit my stock 8 ince rear? Which I believe where teh u=bolts go over is 2 1/4 inches.

Thanks.

I don't think so. The size of my axle at the u-bolts are 2 1/4 where the u-bolts go over, that set is for 2 3/4.

But thanks. I'll see what else they have to offer.

Well I called Competition Engineering. What they said was their package is for 9 inch rears only! However you can retool the 4 holes for the u-bolts and the hole for the shock and there will not be any safety issues.

We'll see how that goes...

There's a website out there that shows how to make home-made grab-a-trac stlye bars.

I just made my slappers with some 1" square tubing and a square piece of 1/8 plate steel then I got a snubber from Autozone and put it on the end.

Good luck...
