After wrecking my gt I thought for a long time on what to do with it. Well that day has finally came where something's gonna go down. I have a 87 four cylinder notchback that is gonna be my new car.
What i need is a complete list of EVERYTHING that needs to be swapped from my gt to the notch. Keep in mind the gt is mechanically complete, just need to know what has to be pulled off, so i can junk the car. I have a fairly good idea of the needed parts but I figure somebody has to have compiled a list somewhere. Thanks for any help.

change from 4cyl to 5.0....

tranny
tranny cross member (double hump)
motor and all v8 components
change the tach
master cylinder, brake booster
suspension
brakes
fuel lines
brake lines - on the 4cyl the brake lines are dangerously close to the exhaust pipe
power steering pump - not mandetory, but the v8 one is better
rad
front and rear sway bars
vacuum distributer
throttle cable
MAP sensor
the v8 gas pedal is bigger as well.
rear end
5sp drive shafts are the same in 4cyl as v8's i have been told

electrical, you have to have the engine harness' from a 5.0, the rest hooks right up except you have to extend the alternator wire because its on the drivers side with a 4cyl, and the passenger side on the v8. You want wiring from the same era of car your working with, ie 87-89 or 90-93 (i think) to mate up perfectly.

that covers most of it, im sure there is some i left out.

thanks for the help guys. The gt is an 89, the notch is an 87. I am pretty much starting with a CLEAN slate with the notch. I have yanked out the engine harness, the entire harness that was behind the dash, engine/ tranny. The only thing left on it right now is the suspension, brakes, steering rack, and fuel lines/ tank. Needless to say I have some pretty full weekends ahead of me, Can't wait!!

The only different driveshaft from 79-93 Mustangs is the 2.3 A4LD automatic cars. All others are the same.
Im in process currently of making the swap on my 87 Coupe from a 88GT donor. Im going carbed though. Im changing eveything over including brakes and suspension. Prolly even gonna swap in some of the interior :D

if you are hooking up all vaccuum lines there is a canister in the passenger side fender. The 4 cylinder one only has one vaccuum line whereas the 8 cylinder has 2 vaccuum lines i believe. I could be wrong but i do KNOW they are different if this is part of your concern. Any other questions feel free to email me at [email protected] or aim at themattrixx324 . Good luck
