For fall, I want to do a complete tune-up/service to my 97 GT as a preventative maintenance type thing. So far, I've got the following plans, with questions in ( )s.

• Spark Plugs (Stock replacement is best, correct?)
• Spark Plug Wires (No real gains in going with an aftermarket set without any other ignition mods, correct?)
• PCV Valve
• Oil Change with K&N Filter and Mobil1 Sythentic Oil
• Clean and re-oil the K&N Air Filter
• Fuel injector cleaner dumped in the gas tank
• Flush the radiator and re-fill
• Fuel Filter
• 5spd Tranny fluid/lube change
• Rear End Oil Change
• Brakes
• Serpentine Belt

What else can you guys think of that I need to change/refresh? I have a 5 day weekend next week and I plan on reviving the 'Stang, along with a complete detail job and a few aftermarket body mods (Clear Headlights and 31/2" Exhaust Tips).

Post up any other additions you can think of, my Mustang brothers!

I think that will do it. I can't think of anything else that you will need to do. Actually, one thing...give the undercarrage a good powerwash if the car is going to be going away for the winter. Gets any of the old salt/sand left on the roads during the summer off.

Might also want to check the ball joints, inner/outter tie rods, get an alignment, and check the u-joints.

some 4.10s while you change out the rear oil.

use some throttle body cleaner if your TB is dirty, and get a can of seafoam and run that through the pcv hose a few times.

4.10s aren't a bad idea! I've been considering it, but there is a lot more to installation than I'm capable of, unfortunately.

Seafoam? What is that? What PCV hose do I run it through? What gains does this offer?

seafoam is a top end cleaner. you can get it in various auto strores. to use it you run the car till its warm, unhook the hose coming off the PCV valve and stick it into the can and rev the motor about 3/4 throttle. no the motor should stall out, if it doesnt stall out kill it immediately. with any left put some in your oil(before changing it) and put a whole can in your gas tank. wait 30 minutes and turn on the car and there should be a huge cloud of smoke coming out the tailpipes. run the car hard and the smoke should continue to pour out and will stop after about 20 minutes of hard driving. you could try another treatment after that through the PCV line to get out more carbon buildup. o btw the more white smoke pouring out the better. if you put it in the motor oil, you will want to do it before you change it, so do it while the car is stalled out and then change the oil after the treatments.

What is the advantage to adding this product to the oil? The gas tank?

I understand the PCV line because it is a "Top end" cleaner... the rest confuses me. Call me a sceptic...

works to help clean parts in the oiling system. and it is an awesome fuel system cleaner. it actually works.
